GS1-128 Logistic Label Software

Regulation: GS1 Logistic Labeling

Industry: Transportation & Logistics

The Consumer Product Goods (CPG) supply chain is reliant on Logistic Service Providers and carriers to manage the flow of goods for manufacturers, material suppliers, and retailers.

The GS1 Standard International Logistic Label (STILL) was developed as a worldwide reference point for barcodes used for traceability of all logistic units. It avoids successive relabeling of logistic units as they move throughout the supply chain, and provides the advantage of only using one logistic label.

Each logistic unit is uniquely identified with a standard identification number called the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC). If a logistic unit is also deemed a trade item, it may also be identified with a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).

The Logistic Label uses GS1-128 barcodes to represent the SSCC for a pallet, and other information about the logistic unit’s contents, and can be scanned to allow tracking and tracing of the physical movement of units. This allows for implementation of a variety of applications, such as shipment routing, automated receiving, and cross docking.
