Common Approaches to Making Barcode Labeling Easier

BY: NICK RECHT / DATE: 15/01/2026 / TOPICS: VOEDINGSMIDDELEN EN DRANKEN, PRODUCTIE, OPSLAG EN DISTRIBUTIE, ENTERPRISE LABEL MANAGEMENT, PRINT AUTOMATION, LABEL DESIGN

Imagine a day where everything goes right. You hit every green light on the way to work, or lunch is catered for the office. It feels great when things just work. Now imagine if your labeling process felt the same way every day.

If you're looking for how to make labeling easier, the good news is that it doesn't require a complete overhaul of your labeling process. With the right labeling strategies, companies can reduce errors, save time, and remove frustration from their labeling process.

If your company has goals for streamlining the labeling process, TEKLYNX has best practices to make your labeling easier.

Companies wanting to simplify their labeling should focus on:

Together, these approaches reduce complexity and create a more reliable labeling process.

Leverage features within your label design software

Creating barcode labels from scratch can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Features within your label design software can make it easier by eliminating some of the manual work.

Features to help make your labeling easier include:

By getting the most out of your label design software and using these features, you can save time creating labels, reduce errors in formatting and compliance, maintain consistent layouts, and make labeling easier for everyone.

Read how LSI Industries eliminated 6,000 static label files by replacing them with database-driven templates, reducing both ongoing label file maintenance and process time.

Standardize your labeling software

Many organizations run into labeling issues because they use multiple brands or versions of label design software across different workstations or locations. A non‑uniform labeling environment can result in label files becoming incompatible between workstations. It can also create problems during operating system upgrades, especially if some workstations are running older, unsupported software versions.

Standardizing your labeling software guarantees that your labels can be successfully opened, viewed, edited, and printed by everyone involved in the labeling process.

One thing to keep in mind with this approach to make labeling easier is software version compatibility. For example, label files saved in a newer version of LABELVIEW aren’t backward compatible and cannot be opened in older versions of the software. This can create frustration when team members using older versions attempt to open updated label files.

By standardizing your organization’s barcode labeling software to the same brand and version, you can eliminate this issue entirely and ensure seamless collaboration across teams. Get in touch with TEKLYNX customer support to help you standardize your labeling.

Print labels from your business system

Your existing business or ERP system houses critical business data that often needs to be printed on your labels. By integrating label printing with your business or ERP system, you can simplify printing, reduce errors, and achieve faster label output using existing business data. Printing can be triggered by scanning a barcode, adding a record to a database, or using a scale to weigh a product. No matter which way printing is triggered, automated printing is guaranteed to make the labeling process easier.

Flex-Strut saw a 100% increase in label printing speed by reducing labeling bottlenecks caused by manual data entry with CODESOFT and SENTINEL. By automating their label printing and integrating directly with their existing ERP system, they eliminated manual steps, and improved labeling consistency. Centralize label file storage

When you have multiple locations for labeling, label files are scattered across local desktops, shared drives, or email attachments. With so many different label files, it's easy to lose track of things. You might spend time looking for the right file or accidentally printing from an outdated or incorrect label. Don't have an unorganized labeling operation. Make your labeling process easier by storing all your label files in one centralized location.

Centralizing your labels makes labeling easier by:

To accomplish this, your company should choose network licensing, which updates label files on a centralized server rather than on individual machines. Your company can also implement a central repository, which prevents storing label files on separate machines, as well as disparate files and updates.

With centralized label management software like TEKLYNX CENTRAL, companies can eliminate the need for local label software installations on the production floor. Instead, users access a secure, browser-based label printing interface that improves control and consistency across multiple locations.

Make your labeling easier with TEKLYNX’ proven approaches

Having an easy labeling process not only benefits your company by decreasing errors and time, but it also benefits your employees by reducing their grievances with a complicated labeling process.

With common approaches like using all the included label design features, standardizing labeling software, and centralizing label file storage, companies can simplify labeling and build a process that scales with growth.

I understand that the Enterprise versions are not compatible, if saved in a newer version the previous version cannot open it, however what about previous versions of reader only? is the 15 and 18 versions of the readers compatible with the 21 enterprise? thank you
