Video: How to Create a New Label with LABEL MATRIX

Creating a new label template with LABEL MATRIX is easy thanks to an easy-to-use interface and handy wizards.

To get started, we can use the new label document wizard that displays automatically when LABEL MATRIX is launched. In this screen, we have the option to change parameters about the label that we’d like to create. But for this example, we’re going to choose the defaults and click next. On this screen, we have the option to add a description for your label. But for this example, we don’t need a description, so we’ll leave the description field blank and hit finish. And with that, our label is created and ready for design.

Now say for instance, that I need to create a product label for a children’s toy car. Well first, I need to add some text, so I’ll click the big letter A for text generation. Then, enter in the text that I want. Then, choose the font tab, choose the desired font, and finally, click ok. With the text now on the label, I can click and drag to place the text wherever I would like it to be located.

Next, I will need to add a barcode, so I will choose the add barcode button. Then, once again enter the data that I want in the barcode. Then, choose the barcode tab, and then choose the desired barcode type. For this example, I want the UPCA barcode type, which is already selected, so I will click the font tab. From this tab, I can choose the type of font I would like to use for my human readable. Then, click ok to add the barcode. Again, with the barcode now on the label, I can click and drag to place my barcode and resize it as needed.

Finally, I want to add an image to my label. To do this, I will click the add image button, then click the file button. This will allow me to browse to and select the image I would like to use. Once the desired image is selected, click open. Finally, click ok to place the image. Once again, with the image on the label, I can click and drag to position and resize the image as needed.

To finish, I would like to have a border around my label to create some definition. So to do this, I’m going to choose the shape option, choose the rectangle, then rather than defining the specifics of my rectangle manually, I will click ok and click and drag the rectangle that has been placed on the label to be positioned on my label as needed.

And just like that, I have a product label for my children’s toy car.
