TEKLYNX & ValuTrack Help BeanTown Chemical Achieve GHS Compliance

Date: 06/23/2015 / Category: Press releases, Case studies

CODESOFT barcode labeling software enabled compliant identification of thousands of products and chemicals months ahead of schedule

MILWAUKEE, WI (June 23, 2015) TEKLYNX International, the world’s leading developer of barcode labeling software solutions, partnered with value-added reseller ValuTrack to provide BeanTown Chemical with a barcode label software solution that enabled the chemical manufacturer to achieve Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) compliance well ahead of the Occupational Health & Safety Administration’s (OSHA) June 1, 2015 deadline. By working with TEKLYNX and ValuTrack, BeanTown Chemical is able to quickly and easily design and print GHS-compliant labels of various sizes for its over 7,000 products and over 5,500 distinct chemicals.

“Chemical labeling is one of the most daunting projects you can have in the business. There are a lot of regulations,” said Barry Singelais, President of BeanTown Chemical. “There are so many individual components of GHS, and many chemical software packages we found could only do 10 out of 12 of the components. CODESOFT could do all 12, and that’s why we chose it.”

By pairing TEKLYNX CODESOFT with affordable color label printers by Epson, ValuTrack created a complete chemical labeling solution that enabled BeanTown Chemical to easily address the color labeling requirements of GHS, including the ability to seamlessly print the required chemical hazard phrases and pictograms. The entire barcode labeling system was implemented and fully functional in less than one month, and has increased staff efficiency by 10% while completely eliminating wasted label stock through the use of preconfigured templates and database integration. To support this, ValuTrack assisted BeanTown Chemical in the creation of a database that included all required GHS data from Safety Data Sheets (SDS). This database enabled end users to pull relevant data into chemical labels without the risk of manual data entry errors.

“TEKLYNX recognizes the challenges that chemical manufacturers face due to additional complexity around labeling requirements and compliance,” said Doug Niemeyer, General Manager at TEKLYNX. “Our dedicated product management team remains focused on change in the chemical labeling sphere. This keeps our barcode label software solutions in tune with evolving needs and our value-added resellers uniquely equipped to provide complete solutions – both hardware and software – that align with chemical manufacturers’ needs.”

CODESOFT includes various features specifically designed for companies with complex barcode labeling design and integration needs. The application automatically resizes fonts and pictograms based on the size of the label stock, and can easily accommodate special characters. Along with CODESOFT, TEKLYNX also offers TEKLYNX CENTRAL GHS, a complete enterprise barcode labeling software solution specifically geared toward chemical manufacturing organizations with more complex labeling processes that would benefit from label printing automation and enforceable approval workflows.
