SERIALIZED LABEL PRINTING FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES

Objective/Requirements:
An automotive parts manufacturer required an application to print serialized labels to two different printers on a production line activated by two different punch buttons on the line. The requirement was to monitor for a signal from a button device and print a label out to the printer associated to the button. The labels printed to both printers needed to be in sequential order so that each time a button is pressed, the next sequential number is sent to the appropriate printer.

Solution:
TEKLYNX Professional Services developed an automated printing application based on CODESOFT label design and printing software that monitors the two button devices and triggers sequential labels to print to the appropriate printers. The application uses CODESOFT’s sequential numbering capabilities and input/output combinations that match the signal device (button) to the correct printer. Operators simply hit the button and the correctly sequenced label is printed on his/her local printer.

Application Solution using CODESOFT:
  • Punch button setup for automatic printing of serialized labels
  • Synchronization of two button/printer systems to maintain sequential order of serialization
  • Simplified application for operators
