Objective/Requirements:
A global electronic manufacturing service provider to communications, computer, industrial controls, medical and transportation companies was seeking a system to print serialized item labels with a coordinated shipping label. The system would prevent serial numbers from being repeated and the shipping label would include the array of serial numbers so workers could validate that duplicate serial numbers are not put in the same shipping carton. The requested application would print both the item and shipping labels.
Solution:
TEKLYNX Professional Services provided a label generation system using CODESOFT ® 7 label design software Enterprise Edition that uses the existing database to validate serial numbers. CODESOFT generates an item label for each item in the shipping box as well as a shipping label from all the serial numbers that are to be put into the shipping box.
The user scans each serial number as the item is put into the shipping carton. The system automatically prints an item label for that serial number to the assigned item label printer. If the user scans a serial number that is already in the list, the system displays an error message. The user may review the list of scanned serial numbers and delete individual items or the entire list. When the user presses the “Print Shipping Labels” button, a shipping label is printed listing each serial number scanned to the printer assigned to shipping labels.
