Objective/Requirements:
The customer, a major soft drink manufacturer/bottler, required an application that would automatically send label formats to a label applicator when an optical scanner was triggered. The operator would be required to enter the part numbers to print. The system needed to query the database to ensure that only valid product identification numbers were used.
Solution:
TEKLYNX Professional Services developed a LABELVIEW label design software automated printing application that prints labels to the designated printer with a single lookup. The application gathers data from an optical scanner and connects to the database. The operator uses a drop-down list to enter the number or uses a keyboard, as necessary. LABELVIEW queries the databases and either flashes an error screen if there are discrepancies, or presents a preview of the label to be printed. This process, along with the preview step, minimizes errors and increases productivity.
