I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 recently and now my software opens in demo mode, even though I have the hardware key connected to the PC. What am I doing wrong?

With Windows XP Service Pack 2 or any Windows XP installation that utilizes some of the Service Pack 2 hotfixes, you will need to upgrade the HASP driver (the driver for the hardware key) to the latest version that is compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Note:

  • If you are using a USB hardware key, you must remove the key before following the steps below.
  • If you are using a parallel key, you must remove the key and reboot the system before following the steps below.
  • In order to successfully complete the steps below the must be performed by a user with Administrative privilages on your PC.

How to upgrade your HASP drivers to the current version

Sometimes firewalls and network policies can restrict starting services within Windows. If the above steps do not fix the key problem, it may be due to one of these factors.
