How can I avoid losing my installed printers, database connections, and other user-specific settings when I upgrade or reinstall LABELVIEW?
This is a known issue encountered during reinstallation or when upgrading versions. You can prevent this from happening by doing the following before you install a new version of LABELVIEW:

  1. Use Windows Explorer to browse the C:\LVWIN70 or C:\Program Files\LV8 directory on your PC.

  2. Locate the LABEL.ini file. Right-click this file and select the Copy option from the right-click menu.

  3. Minimize the Windows Explorer and any other open windows so you can see the desktop of your PC. Right-click an empty space on your desktop and select the Paste option from the menu.

  4. You will see the copy of your LABEL.ini file on the desktop. At this point, download and install the new version of LABELVIEW.

  5. After you reboot, right-click the LABEL.ini file on your desktop and select Copy from the menu.

  6. Use Windows Explorer to browse the C:\LVWIN70 directory on your PC. Right-Click on the LVWIN70 folder in the left side of the explorer window. Select Paste from the menu.

  7. You will see a similar prompt to the one below asking whether you wish to replace the existing file with the one you are pasting into the directory. Click Yes.

Congratulations! You have successfully restored your old LABEL.ini file to a new LABELVIEW installation. If you are upgrading from a LABELVIEW 6.x installation, make sure LABELVIEW is using the Windows Print Manager.
