How do I upgrade my hardware key version of CODESOFT to the CODESOFT 8 keyless version? |

This FAQ explains the procedure for upgrading from a hardware key (dongle) version of CODESOFT to a keyless version of CODESOFT. If you are performing a different upgrade refer to our CODESOFT upgrade assistance page.
When you purchase your upgrade to CODESOFT 8 you will receive a Key Migration Kit containing instructions like the ones below and a Key Migration Tool CD. The directions below explain how to upgrade your license from a dongle, or hardware key protected version, to the keyless version. You can download the key migration kit here if you need the file.
Important Notice: Before you begin the key upgrade procedure it is highly recommended that you:- Make a back-up copy of all your label files
- Uninstall the previous version of TEKLYNX software
Once you have completed the steps above, follow the instructions below to migrate your license from hardware key to keyless and complete your upgrade:- Install the new TEKLYNX software you have purchased BEFORE installing this key upgrade software. Your new TEKLYNX software will run for 30 days without the need to activate. We recommend that you test the new version of software using a copy (not your back-up copy) of your label templates before continuing.
- You will need the Upgrade Activation Code included in your upgrade package to perform the Key Migration. At the end of the process you will receive an Activation Code to activate your new software. When you are ready to activate the new software and complete the upgrade, insert the CD contained in this Key Migration Kit into the CD-ROM drive of a PC that has the hardware key (dongle) from the previous version of software attached.
- A screen like the one below will appear. Enter the upgrade code (located on the back of your product's user manual and on the product CD) and click Next.
- A confirmation screen will appear confirming that the key attached to the PC is the one you intend to erase (and convert to a keyless software license) is the one the software is reading. If the product and edition shown in the screen match the product and edition you are upgrading, click next.
- A second confirmation screen will pop up, asking you to confirm that you want to erase the hardware key. Click Yes to erase they key and get the keyless Activation Code.
- The Key Migration Tool will create your 30 character software key activation code. Be sure to copy this code to a text document or write it down. Once you close the Key Migration Tool, you will not be able to get your Activation Code again.
- If you have copied the Activation Code to a safe place, click Finish to close the wizard.
- Run your new software and activate it using the Activation Code that was generated in Step 6. For directions on activating a keyless version of a product, refer to Directions for Keyless activation.
Congratulations! You have successfully activated your new software. Be sure to keep all your upgrade materials for further support and reference.
